Breakout-Prone Body Skin Routine

Breakout-prone body skin needs balance—not stripping, not clogging, and not overcorrecting.

Breakouts on the chest and back are often caused by a mix of excess oil, sweat, buildup, friction, and products that are too heavy or too harsh. Over-cleansing and aggressive treatments can make things worse by triggering irritation and rebound oil production. The goal is to cleanse thoroughly but gently, exfoliate strategically, and hydrate in a way that supports the skin barrier without clogging pores.

Breakout-prone body skin isn’t fixed by “drying it out”—it’s fixed by:

cleanse smart + exfoliate intentionally + hydrate lightly + stay consistent

Step 1

Cleansers

For breakout-prone body skin, cleansing needs to remove sweat, oil, and buildup without stripping or triggering irritation.

Charcoal + Tea Tree Bar Soap is ideal for the chest and back because it helps draw out impurities and clarify congested pores while tea tree supports a cleaner, balanced feel. This is especially helpful for areas prone to sweat and friction.

For days when skin feels dry, tight, or irritated from over-cleansing, alternate with Tetra Oleum™ Body Wash. Its oil-based formula gently cleanses without disrupting the barrier, helping prevent the rebound oil production that can worsen breakouts.

How to use:

  • Use Charcoal + Tea Tree on breakout areas
  • Use Tetra Oleum™ Body Wash when skin feels dry, tight, or stressed
  • You don’t have to choose one forever—rotate based on how your skin feels

Step 2

Moisturize

Exfoliation is key for breakout-prone chest and back skin because it helps prevent pore congestion and buildup—but it needs to be done carefully.

Exfolis™ Body Balm Scrub helps lift dead skin cells while providing hydration, making it a better option than harsh, drying scrubs. Use 1–2x per week to keep pores clear and texture smooth.

For a tool-based option, the Jute Exfoliating Mitt offers gentle physical exfoliation that helps cleanse hard-to-reach areas like the back without overdoing it.

Important:
Avoid daily exfoliation. Over-exfoliating can inflame the skin and lead to more breakouts.

Step 3

Exfoliate

It's important to exfoliate to remove the buildup of dead, dull skin cells that can make skin look thinner, rougher and more wrinkled. Our exfoliant is hydrating, smooths texture, improved radiance and allows hydrating and nourihsing products to absorb better. Use this 1-2x/week to keep skin refreshed and supple.

Step 4

Treatment

Treatment steps help keep pores clear between washes and support skin balance—especially in sweat-prone areas.

Clerra™ Rehydrating Mist can be used after showering or post-workout to lightly hydrate without clogging pores. Keeping skin hydrated helps reduce excess oil production, which can contribute to breakouts.

If congestion is paired with muscle tension or poor circulation (common in the back), Therapeutic Silicone Body Cups can be used gently with Tetra Oleum™ Body Wash or Ekoa™ Body Oil to support circulation without abrasive friction.
