The science

Dead surface cells build up faster than dry body skin sheds them, and that is most of what rough texture is. Exfolis clears them two ways: sucrose crystals do the physical work and dissolve as you massage, so there is a built-in stop point, and a Lactobacillus/papaya ferment brings papain, an enzyme that loosens the protein bonds holding spent cells on. The base is not a wash — it is a balm of shea butter, sunflower oil, jojoba oil and MCT that does not rinse fully away. Pomegranate sterols sit in that layer and slow water loss; bisabolol keeps it calm. The result is exfoliation that ends with lipids on the skin instead of gone from it.

PAPAYA ENZYME
SHEDS DEAD CELLS
A Lactobacillus ferment of papaya fruit, the source of the protein-dissolving enzyme papain. It loosens the protein bonds holding spent cells to the surface, so the sugar has less to scrub off and can be gentler doing it.
A 2022 systematic review of in-vitro and in-vivo studies found that proteolytic enzymes including papain mimic the skin's own desquamation process and exfoliate the skin, while noting few large clinical trials exist. In a separate lab study, electron microscopy of skin treated with papain showed visible exfoliating activity. Ingredient-level evidence, not a trial on a rinse-off scrub.

JOJOBA OIL

A liquid wax ester from the jojoba seed, structurally close to the wax esters in your own sebum. Together with shea butter and sunflower oil it forms the balm that stays on skin after the sugar dissolves.
In a randomized, multi-center pilot study of 32 people with dry skin, jojoba oil applied twice daily significantly increased skin hydration by week 2 (p<0.01) and performed as well as white petrolatum. Leave-on oil, small study.

I used this product for the first time and i love the way it melts into your skin after initially rubbing it in. You can feel the exfoliation but it isn't overly rough. I am not crazy about the RADIANT smell as it is a little more masculine than i like. Overall, i am happy with how soft it made my skin.

I don’t know if it was something in this particular bottle or just something different in the scrub. So I’m only giving 4 stars for that reason. Smells okay but not amazing. The scrub is very concentrated. Feels rough to use on hands and feels slimey when rinsing off but after you dry off skin feels hydrated and silky. I would like to try in a different scent just for this product
